We really have to give a lot of credit to what the Milwaukee Brewers have been able to do on both sides of the baseball over much of the past decade.

While the Brewers could be a much better team if they spent money and kept some of their best players, it’s a credit to the organization for finding ways to win.

The scouting department, front office, coaching staff, and everyone in between deserve a lot of respect for the type of baseball this team plays.

As for how that might affect the New York Yankees, there’s reason to believe Milwaukee would be willing to move on from a guy this winter who could be a perfect fit in the Bronx. That guy would be William Contreras, as the Yankees clearly need to add a catcher.

Personally, moving on from Contreras doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but Bleacher Report recently suggested it could be a possibility.

“Between Freddy Peralta this past winter, Devin Williams the previous year and Corbin Burnes the offseason before that, we have plenty of evidence that the Brewers are not afraid to trade away a star player ahead of his final season of team control.

“Nor should they be afraid, as they inexplicably just keep getting better every time they do it. Well, William Contreras has a $14.5M club option for 2027. The Brewers could definitely benefit from another starting pitcher or two in a rotation that can get questionable quickly beyond Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson,” Bleacher Report wrote.

The Brewers have made some questionable decisions by moving on from certain guys over the past couple of years, but as Bleacher Report noted, they never really miss a step.

I wouldn’t say moving on from guys like Josh Hader, Freddy Peralta, and Corbin Burnes were the right moves, just as it wouldn’t be with Contreras, but it’s clear this front office has a solid plan and always finds a way to get the job done.

Contreras seems a bit different from those other guys in some ways, which makes this scenario a bit more interesting.
