With the spotlight on the Philadelphia 76ers‘ new Big 5, it’s clear they are formidable offensively. However, people are not talking enough about how this will be a great playmaking year for LeBron James because of all the options he has alongside him on the Philly roster.
The rest of the starting lineup is significant because they are all amazing scorers. They also thrive in off-ball situations, so when James has the ball ready to make the play, he knows that his teammates will be ready to take the shot when they receive the ball.
LeBron James’ unselfish playmaking stands out in the 76ers’ preseason
On Thursday, the 76ers finally saw LeBron James play alongside his teammates in a preseason game against the Brooklyn Nets. Of course, it was only a preview for what is to come in the 2026-27 season, and James showed that he is ready.
He only played 18 minutes, but he stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists. That number of assists stands out because he will be the primary playmaker for this team, and with all kinds of options around him, the unselfishness will be his strength.

Everyone knows that Jaylen Brown, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and V.J. Edgecombe can all score the basketball. However, they are not seen as elite passers, but thankfully, they have James pulling all the strings on offense moving forward.
“We’re talking about a player who has an argument to be the greatest player of all time. He’s coming into this roster with other greats, and we saw his willingness to take that backseat last year in Los Angeles. This whole team will benefit from his unselfishness, but also his cerebral-ness,” Former NBA center Robin Lopez said about James playing for the 76ers.
Lopez brings up great points because he and most of the NBA world know that James will be a fantastic playmaker and leader for this team. It will be quite challenging for most teams to stop this 76ers team, and that will be mostly because of their sheer talent and James conducting their offense to the best of his ability.
