The New Orleans Saints lost on Monday Night Football to the Atlanta Falcons, getting embarrassed at home by a wild 45-24 margin. It was a rough week for the Saints, made all the worse by what happened near the end of the game.
Chris Olave, the Saints’ star receiver, was hit late in the game, seemingly suffering an injury in the process as he limped off the field. He arguably never should have been out there, as the game was already over. But he was, and seemingly got hurt.
The concerns increased for the Saints when Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reported that Olave wasn’t at practice on Wednesday. However, while his DNP is concerning, Kellen Moore revealed some good news on Olave’s status.
Saints HC shares good news on Chris Olave despite DNP at Wednesday practice
“Moore said Chris Olave was a ‘rest’ day,” Underhill reported. That’s some incredibly important context for the Saints WR.
Olave was not participating at practice on Wednesday, which, combined with his late hit in Week 4 on Monday, made for a concerning sign for the Saints.
Fortunately, Moore revealed some good news. Not only is this just a rest day for Olave, but Underhill reports that “Moore says that Olave’s day off wasn’t related to the hit,” and some even better news: “Kellen Moore said Olave needed no testing.”
Olave was resting on Wednesday, unrelated to his late hit Monday, and doesn’t need any testing to figure out his injury issue, as there isn’t one.

Underhill’s last report on Olave’s Wednesday DNP summarized the situation well: “Moore clarified three times that Olave was not an injury, specifically not a knee, and just resting.”
While the initial report was concerning, these follow-ups from Underhill at Moore’s press conference are a huge sigh of relief for the Saints and their fans.
While Devaughn Vele is a good receiver, relying on him to be the team’s No. 1 would be sketchy. Olave, Vele, and Juwan Johnson make a good receiving trio. That doesn’t even include Jordyn Tyson and Travis Etienne Jr., who are both injured.
Tyler Shough and the Saints offense should be just fine going forward, especially with the much-needed context for Olave’s absence from practice Wednesday.
