The Philadelphia Eagles saw two massive changes to their offensive line after their Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Not only did Lane Johnson retire, but the Eagles also traded away Cam Jurgens.
Both of these major pieces of news came as surprises to the Eagles fanbase, and while the Johnson news was disappointing, as he was still elite, the Jurgens news was an incredible stroke of genius from Howie Roseman.
But now, with both off the team, what is the projected offensive line for Week 5 against a tough Jacksonville Jaguars defense? There are three new starters who, at the beginning of the year, were not expected to be playing nearly this much.
Eagles’ new-look OL is very interesting following Jurgens, Johnson news
Jordan Mailata will remain the left tackle starter, but just about everywhere else will have a new, long-term face attached to the position.
Drew Kendall is likely to remain at center, as he’s played well since taking over there for Jurgens following Landon Dickerson’s injury. At right guard, Tyler Steen will stay as the starter.
But taking over for Johnson at right tackle is third-round rookie Markell Bell. In an emergency starting role, he held up well in Week 4 against a tough Los Angeles Rams defense. There’s room for improvement, but so far, not too shabby for Bell.
Finally, taking over for Jurgens, who, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, was dealt by the Eagles for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick from the Baltimore Ravens, is likely to be fan-favorite lineman Willie Lampkin.
He was acquired before the 2025 season after the Rams released him, and the Eagles stashed him for a season. Now, after an impressive preseason and training camp, Lampkin, the 5-foot-11, 290-pound lineman, will likely start at left guard.

Overall, the projected offensive line for Week 5 against the Jaguars is likely to look as follows: Left tackle, Jordan Mailata; Left guard, Willie Lampkin; Center, Drew Kendall; Right guard, Tyler Steen; Right tackle, Markell Bell.
Micah Morris could be the Eagles’ new starting offensive guard if they’re uncertain about going with Lampkin as the starting left guard. But, for now, Lampkin is most likely to be that starting left guard, in place of Jurgens, who was just traded.
There have been some massive changes to the Eagles’ offensive line this week, as Johnson has retired and Jurgens has now been traded.
While there will be plenty of questions about this new-look OL, it’s going to be very interesting to see how they perform together after a full week of practice, knowing they’re going to be the starters.
