The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off a Week 4 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in a close game that, unfortunately, featured two major injuries for the Bengals.

Early in the game, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was tackled hard and left the game with a concussion. Near the end of the game, Tee Higgins also left early with an adductor injury.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor revealed that both are uncertain for Week 5, as the Bengals’ No. 1 and No. 2 receivers are dealing with noteworthy injuries.

Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins uncertain for Week 5

“Bengals HC Zac Taylor said WR Ja’Marr Chase remains in concussion protocol, and Tee Higgins is now considered day-to-day due to his adductor injury,” Schefter reports.

This is not a good sign for the Bengals, especially coming out of a loss to drop to 2-2 on the season, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for last in the division.

Higgins and Chase are both questionable for Week 5, and with Andrei Iosivas already on injured reserve, Cincinnati might be down a lot of key playmakers on offense if Chase and Higgins cannot go.

Fortunately, if there were ever a week they could miss that would be an okay situation for the Bengals, it would be in Week 5 when they face the Miami Dolphins.

Chase Brown, Joe Burrow, the tight end room, and even a WR room without their top options should be able to beat the 0-4 Dolphins next week.

With a bye in Week 6, Cincinnati might decide to try to get their top receivers some extra rest, with the belief in the team of being able to beat the Dolphins without their best receivers.

Higgins and Chase might be out in Week 5, but for now, the update from Schefter reveals both are shaky coming out of Week 4. Higgins is day-to-day, and Chase is in concussion protocol.

Both could play in Week 5 if their week of practice goes well, but it’s also very possible the Bengals are without their best pass-catchers next weekend.
