The Dallas Cowboys are 1-2 heading into their Week 4 matchup against the Houston Texans, while the Texans are still trying to get their first win of the season. On paper, this looks like an easy win for Dak Prescott and the Cowboys, but nothing is guaranteed in the NFL.
It’s worth pointing out that Prescott is playing stellar football this season. He’s obviously started all three games for the Cowboys so far and has recorded 73 completions on 105 pass attempts for 730 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception.
But, Prescott has some shaky history with the Texans, and that’s something to watch on Sunday. It’s nothing to freak out about, but it should be mentioned.
Dak Prescott has has some trouble against Houston
Houston hasn’t exactly been an easy matchup for Dak Prescott. In his two career starts against the Texans, Prescott has thrown four interceptions and posted a 69.0 passer rating.
According to ESPN’s Week 4 preview, Prescott’s 31.2 total QBR against Houston is his second-lowest against any single opponent, with only Indianapolis at 29.6 coming in lower.
“This is a desperation bowl between the Cowboys and Texans. Since 1990, 1-3 teams have made the playoffs only 14.3% of the time, according to ESPN Research. Don’t even ask me what history says about 0-4 teams,” adds ESPN’s Ben Solak.
So, the Cowboys would be best not to take this win for granted. They’re playing against a desperate team, and that means Houston will be playing their hearts out. Luckily for Dallas, the Cowboys will surely be going into the game with the same mindset.
