By now, Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy have played enough football games as a duo to give one another the benefit of the doubt. But in their early days with the Steelers, they’ve appeared to be at odds at times.
Early in the 2026 season, Rodgers made comments about play calling that suggested the quarterback thought he needed to tell McCarthy how to run the Steelers’ offense. With Pittsburgh’s unit among the NFL’s lowest-scoring through three games, it hasn’t all been pretty.
During Thursday night’s matchup between the Browns and Steelers, Rodgers and McCarthy, once again, appeared to have a disagreement, with Rodgers seen apparently screaming some expletives toward his coach.
Here’s a look at what appeared to be an NSFW exchange between Rodgers and McCarthy.

The Steelers had a frustrating opening drive on “Thursday Night Football” that eventually led to a Roman Wilson touchdown, but lasted around 10 minutes over 17 plays and countless penalties.
Prior to a 1st & 10, Amazon’s broadcast cameras were centered on the Steelers’ huddle, where Rodgers was eyeing the Steelers’ sideline with a stance that indicated the play call wasn’t yet in, arms out to his sides.
Eventually, Rodgers snapped.
“What the f—? Call it!” Rodgers was heard screaming to the Steelers sideline.
Immediately after, cameras cut to McCarthy, who fans thought appeared to mouth “F—ing a—hole” about his quarterback.

There certainly aren’t any hard feelings between the two considering their history, with McCarthy leading the Packers to nine playoff appearances during Rodgers’ stint in Green Bay, including their 2010 Super Bowl title.
Thursday’s moment was just the latest indication of some communication issues between the quarterback and coach, though, as the Steelers look to get their offense kicking into a higher gear.
