The Kansas City Chiefs are entering a crucial offseason in 2026.

After a disappointing season last year, in which the Chiefs went 6-11, Kansas City is now looking to re-tool to get back to the top of the NFL. However, with Patrick Mahomes still rehabbing from a torn ACL, the Chiefs have to find the right pieces to fill out this roster.

The Chiefs have many holes to fill, which includes needing to upgrade running back and several positions on defense. Kansas City also now has two first-round picks in the draft, including a valuable top-10 pick, which will help the team add cheaper talent.

First up is free agency, though, as the Chiefs have some cap space to make a splash or two. Here’s the latest rumors and signing for Kansas City this offseason.

Chiefs free agency rumors, news, updates

Kansas City signing Kenneth Walker

The Chiefs are adding the Super Bowl MVP to their backfield in a big move. Walker is an explosive runner who had 1,027 rushing yards in 2025, but had a huge playoffs that led to him winning the Super Bowl MVP for the Seattle Seahawks.

Chiefs to re-sign Travis Kelce

Kelce will return to Kansas City for a 14th season instead of hitting the market and exploring other options. The tight end will turn 37 in 2026 and has spent his entire career with the Chiefs.

Kenneth Walker likely to leave Seahawks, Chiefs a potential target

The Super Bowl MVP appears to have priced himself out of a return to Seattle, making it likely he signs with a new team this week. Tom Pelissero specifically named the Chiefs that could decide to splurge on the top running back available.

Chiefs “love” Travis Etienne

Fowler also names the Denver Broncos as a team that is heavily interested in the Jacksonville Jaguars free agent. Kansas City needs a running back and is likely to sign one this week.

Travis Kelce “motivated” to play in 2026

While retirement was a strong possibility, Kelce appears likely to play in 2026. The tight end is a free agent and could return to Kansas City, although he can weigh the Chiefs offers with those of other teams.
