DISCLAIMER: Sports betting is not yet legal in Missouri. This article is intended for informational purposes only and will be updated as new legislation, ballot measures or court rulings develop. Until legalization is finalized and regulated operators launch, residents in Missouri cannot legally place sports bets.

Legalized sports betting has been active in some capacity in most of the United States, and Missouri is expected to be the next state to join this company.

Sports betting in Missouri is scheduled to launch on December 1, 2025, with pre-registration for sportsbook accounts and deposits scheduled to be available starting Nov. 17, beginning at midnight local time.

Of course, the moment Missouri legalizes betting, it will likely become a big player in the U.S. sports wagering industry. Patrick Mahomes and the three-time Super Bowl-champion Chiefs play in Missouri, as do the Cardinals, the Blues, the Royals and the Mizzou Tigers.

Read on for more about what to expect for the likely Dec. 1 sports betting legalization in Missouri, including which sportsbooks will go live in the Show Me State.

What are the best online sportsbooks expected to launch in Missouri?

No sportsbooks have officially launched yet, because Missouri sports betting is not live or legal until Dec. 1.

However, a few are accepting deposits from signup accounts in preparation for the 12/1 activation of betting in the Show Me State.

The MGC and betting law have identified up to 14 online sports betting licenses to be granted: 6 licenses will go to apps partnering with casino operators, 6 connected to local professional sports teams, and 2 untethered licenses, whose owners can act independently.

  • These operators have been granted temporary sports wagering mobile licenses by the MGC, as of Nov. 12.
  • Listed next to them below are confirmed Missouri sportsbook promos and offers (✅) included at the time of pre-registration on Nov. 17, in preparation for the Dec. 1 betting apps activation.

  • *: Note: Kambi is an odds supplier, not a sportsbook. As of Nov. 14, they have not yet announced which operator(s) or market partnerships they will work with in Missouri, but they hold a supplier license from the Missouri Gaming Commission.
  • Additional Note: The MGC also has approved wagering supplier licenses for Gambling Laboratories Interntaional, GeoComply, Catalist Sports Inc., SportsContentCo, and GDC America.

DraftKings and Circa Sports were given untethered licenses, meaning they can act independently.

Meanwhile, several pending Missouri operators have partnered with local sports teams and organizations: US betting co-leader FanDuel entered into work with St. Louis City SC of Major League Soccer, while bet365 (St. Louis Cardinals) and Underdog (Kansas City Royals) made agreements with Major League Baseball franchises.

Also, Penn Entertainment’s license is slated to be launched as theScore Bet, in a recent change from the sundowning ESPN Bet app.

Given the breadth of choices for betting operators, residents of the Show Me State will have the opportunity to build their bankroll with welcome offers by betting at multiple sportsbooks.

Expect more detailed announcements as Missouri’s Nov. 17 pre-registration and Dec. 1 legal betting launch dates approach.

Missouri betting legislative and ballot initiatives: A timeline

📅  December 1, 2025*

Scheduled launch date for legal Missouri sports betting

📅  November 17, 2025*

Expected date on which prospective MO bettors can pre-register for and deposit funds into sportsbook accounts.

📅  May 2025

The application window closes for any operators who requested to set up their sportsbook in Missouri.

📅  March 2025

An emergency ruleset for sports betting is rejected, meaning that the launch of online sportsbooks in MO is delayed until fall. It’s a frustrating setback for prospective Missouri bettors.

📅  November 2024

Missouri voters narrowly pass Amendment 2 with 50.1 percent of the votes, according to unofficial election results. This approval allowed the state to move forward with creating regulation frameworks and issuing licenses to sports betting operators, pivotal steps in the legalization process.

📅  October 2024

The state launches public awareness campaigns to educate Missouri residents about the new sports betting laws and responsible gambling practices.

📅  September 2024

Missouri gubernatorial candidates on the campaign trail express their support for the proposed sports betting bill. The growing political support for betting leads many to believe that the finish line is in sight.

📅  February 2024

HB2311 successfully passes out of a special committee with a 5-2 vote. It’s a massive forward motion for sports betting in Missouri.

📅  October 2023

The capital city of Jefferson City, MO receives 16 new sports betting initiative proposals. This gives plenty of prospective Missouri bettors hope, as it greatly increases the chances of pushing sports betting legalization onto the November 2024 ballot.

📅  May 2022

Missouri sports betting once again fails to pass before the conclusion of the legislative session. Lawmakers missed the proverbial shot clock, with talks stalling yet again due to specific details and inclusions within the bill.

Lawmakers did come close, however. They spent hours discussing HB 2502, but the long at-bat still ended in a strikeout.

📅  April 2022

Sen. Denny Hoskins filibusters in support of the legalization of sports betting in Missouri, but it proves fruitless. HB 2502 swings and misses, with VLTs continuing to serve as a source of dissent among lawmakers.

📅  May 2021

Like many other states that still currently prohibit sports betting, the Missouri Senate failed to approve sports betting before the end of the 2021 legislative session.

The biggest rift caused by the initial sports betting bill? The inclusion of VLTs (video lottery terminals). Lawmakers squabbled about this particular part of the bill, ultimately leading to a negotiation stall-out.
