  • Where is Coastal Carolina? Location, city and more to know about Chanticleers baseball team

Coastal Carolina is back in the College World Series. While many fellow schools like Louisiana State University (LSU), the University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) or the University of Arkansas all have names that explicitly tell you where the school is located.

When you hear the name Coastal Carolina University, you can use deductive reasoning and narrow it down to one of the Carolinas. The problem is that both North and South Carolina have coasts, so that also doesn’t help.

Maybe the mascot can help. Ohio State has the Buckeyes because that is the state tree of Ohio. Coastal Carolina is the… chanticleers. Unfamiliar with what that is? A Chanticleer is a fierce rooster, which also doesn’t help narrow down where the school is.

Here is more information on the location of Coastal Carolina.

Where is Coastal Carolina University?

Coastal Carolina is in South Carolina. Both its mascot, the Chanticleer, and the University of South Carolina’s Gamecock are angry roosters, so it must be a state thing.

The actual school is located in Conway, South Carolina, which is situated just outside Myrtle Beach. Students at the university are only about 11 miles, or a 30-minute drive, from the East Coast in Myrtle Beach, but can get to the city and its many beach bars and putt putt courses in under half an hour.

Coastal Carolina College World Series history

For a smaller school, Coastal Carolina has a history of fielding solid baseball teams.

The Chanticleers have made 21 postseason appearances, starting with their first in 1991, and the second not coming until 2001. Coastal Carolina has made only four super regionals, and 2025 marked the program’s second College World Series appearance. The Chanticleers won their first-ever national title at the College World Series in 2016.
