Al Horford has spent seven years of his NBA career with the Boston Celtics, and next season will be his 19th in the league. This offseason, Horford is a free agent and has the option to leave Boston for a different team. Several teams could be in the mix to sign the 19-year veteran if he decides to leave Boston.

If Horford were to leave the Celtics this offseason, he would likely be signing with a team that puts him in the best position to win an NBA Championship before his career comes to a close. Horford has already won an NBA Championship, winning with the Celtics in 2024.

“Al Horford has received interest from several contending teams since the start of free agency,” Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto reported on Monday night.

Teams that have expressed their interest in Horford include the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported that Horford is a “top target” for the Warriors in the offseason. Golden State would be an ideal landing spot for Horford, as the team needs depth at the forward and center positions.

The Lakers are also an ideal landing spot for Horford, as LA needs depth at the forward position after losing Dorian Finney-Smith to the Houston Rockets.

The Celtics are a favorite to bring Horford back for next season. Boston would most likely be entering next season as a championship contender if it weren’t for Jayson Tatum’s Achilles injury.
