The Golden State Warriors are itching to make a big move. All comments from Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors’ front office indicate that the team is ready to engage in some trade talks this offseason to improve the current roster. Now, recent comments from his agent have some wondering if a LeBron James trade request could be on the horizon. Could a Warriors-LeBron trade actually happen?
As recently as a season ago, Warriors trade rumors surfaced about their attempt to trade for LeBron. Although the Warriors-LeBron trade never came to fruition, it proved that the Warriors weren’t above pairing Stephen Curry with his former rival.
With LeBron’s agent Rich Paul making veiled comments about his long-term commitment to the team, it is no wonder that, once again, LeBron trade rumors to the Warriors have started.
The question is, is trading for another aging superstar the best move for the Warriors?
LeBron James is 40 years old and is coming off an MCL injury he sustained last year in the playoffs.
That’s not the profile for the perfect Warriors offseason target.
The Warriors need proven, young players who can play hard for 82 games and last through the playoffs. LeBron no longer fits that bill.
Instead of looking to make a homerun with a Warriors-LeBron trade, Golden State should focus on using their assets to try and trade for star role players like Herb Jones or Cam Johnson.

So while a potential LeBron James trade request would certainly cause a stir, the Warriors should probably steer clear of that drama.
