Chicago Cubs centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong continues to have an excellent 2025 campaign in all facets of the game.
The 23-year-old is a Most Valuable Player candidate in his first full season in Major League Baseball. As of the fifth inning of Friday’s series opener versus the St. Louis Cardinals, Crow-Armstrong has 23 home runs and 66 RBI while slashing .269/.306/.556 in 87 games.
Not only has Crow-Armstrong’s offense hit an impressive stride, his baserunning and defense haven’t disappointed in the slightest.
He has stolen 26 bases on 30 attempts, putting him on pace to become the first Cub ever to have a 40/40 season.
Crow-Armstrong is tied-second in MLB amongst outfielders in Outs Above Average (12) and Defensive Runs Saved (12).
He may not be first in those categories, but he does have the most five-star catches in baseball. A five-star catch is when a fielder has a 25% or less chance of making the catch; Crow-Armstrong has nine, no other player has more than three.

Bleacher Report predicts Crow-Armstrong will be the first Cub since Anthony Rizzo in 2016 to win the Platinum Glove award.
“The perfect way to cap off Crow-Armstrong’s breakout season would be for him to win not only his first Gold Glove Award in center field but also to take home the Platinum Glove as the best defender in the NL,” wrote Tim Kelly.
There is still plenty of baseball left, but if Crow-Armstrong’s impressive season continues, he has a real shot at taking the MVP award from Shohei Ohtani.
