  • Olympian Ilona Maher shares this powerful message about body insecurity

Ilona Maher is a rugby player and Olympic bronze medalist who became known as a fan favorite during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Later on, she performed during the 33rd season of Dancing With the Stars, where she made it all the way to the finale.

Maher has become known for not only her incredible physical strength and athletic ability, but also her inspiring confidence. However, that doesn’t mean that the 28-year-old doesn’t sometimes have days where she feels uncomfortable in her own skin.

On Monday, July 30, the Olympian turned to Instagram to share a powerful message about body insecurity. She revealed that she had been feeling self-conscious about her body while at the gym. However, she then remembered a video that she had posted on social media years ago about body positivity. She shared the audio of that video in hopes of inspiring others who might be going through the same struggles.

“Hey everyone, just your monthly reminder that this is the body of a professional athlete, it’s the body of an Olympian. It’s not perfect, it’s not completely lean, it’s not completely toned, but this body is amazing, it does amazing things for me, and there isn’t one body type for female athletes or for women,” the audio begins.

“So today I want you all to look in the mirror, appreciate what you got, realize what it does for you, and remember you’re beautiful,” she continued.
