The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest is an American institution regardless of who is participating, but something about the event is different when Joey Chestnut shows up hungry.

After missing the 2024 contest due to a sponsorship dispute, Chestnut will be back on stage in Coney Island in 2025 — and there is no doubt he is the man to beat.

Last year’s winner, Patrick Bertoletti, wasn’t far off from Chestnut’s 2022 and 2023 hot dog totals, but Chestnut ate 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes during a Netflix special in September and appears to still be at the top of his game. Either Bertoletti or one of the other eight competitors is going to have to find an extra gear to take down the 16-time champion.

As the eating unfolds in Brooklyn, you can keep track of it all right here.

10:35 a.m. — Miki Sudo, who set a women’s world record by eating 51 hot dogs in 2024, will look to defend her title live on ESPN3. Apparently, her larger-than-average jaw makes her the best women’s competitive eater in the world.
