We are about to enter the dog days of summer, which means that it’s time for the MLB All-Star festivities. This year, Truist Park in Atlanta will play host to the Home Run Derby and the 2025 All-Star Game, along with all of the other events of All-Star weekend.
The All-Star Game itself will be held on Tuesday, July 15 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The best from the National League and American League will duke it out in a nine-inning game. While the All-Star game used to determine home-field advantage for the World Series, now each player on the winning team earns a cool $25,000 bonus check.
Before getting to the All-Star Game, the rosters for each league need to be determined. Voting is already underway, and the results will be announced about two weeks prior to the actual event.

How does MLB All-Star voting work?
The MLB broke All-Star voting down into two phases. The first phase helped to shrink the field of potential starters. The leading vote-getter from the National and American leagues was automatically named a starter for the All-Star Game. Unsurprisingly, these were Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers and Aaron Judge of the Yankees.
Players outside of Ohtani and Judge needed to remain in the top two of voting at each infield position and DH in order to make it to Phase 2. Outfielders needed to remain in the top six at their position.
Phase 1: June 4 – June 26
This phase of voting resembles the classic All-Star vote, as fans are able to submit their votes for players. The top vote-getter from the American and National League would automatically be named starters, with the others hopefully garnering enough votes based on their position to advance to Phase 2.
Phase 2: June 30 – July 2
Fans are able to submit one ballot per day, and voting totals do not carry over from the first round. The leading vote-getter at each position will be named a starter for their respective league.
Pitchers and reserves
It’s worth noting that fans do not have control over the pitchers and reserves. MLB players will vote on five starting pitchers, three relievers, and eight reserves. Any remaining spots will be filled by the Commissioner’s Office to ensure that each roster reaches 32 players and that each team has at least one representative.
When are MLB All-Star starters announced?
The starting rosters for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be announced on Wednesday, July 2. Voting for Phase 2 ends at noon ET that day, with the announcement coming a few hours later.
The starters will be announced on ESPN. It can be live-streamed on ESPN+ or Fubo. The latter is offering a free trial currently and has ESPN in its channel lineup.

The remaining players for the 2025 MLB All-Star Game will be announced on Sunday, July 6 at 5 p.m. ET.
