  • Lakers sign guard who averages under 7 points to $12 million fully guaranteed deal

2025 NBA free agency is underway! The Los Angeles Lakers just made one of the first signings of free agency. Shams Charania of ESPN reported Monday that the Lakers are signing sharp-shooting guard Jake LaRavia. This Lakers free agency acquisition is just the first of what could be a slew of signings for the Lakers.

Jake LaRavia averaged only 6.1 points last year in 19.3 minutes per game for the Kings. He only played in 19 games.

LaRavia’s stats aren’t the numbers Lakers fans were likely hoping for when hearing about a Lakers free agency signing.

That being said, LaRavia is still young and has one NBA skill that every team needs.

LaRavia can shoot. He is a career 37.1% shooter from three and shot over 44% in his last season with the Grizzlies.

With Luka Dončić and LeBron James getting him wide open and hitting him with dimes, expect LaRavia to factor into the Lakers’ offense for next season.

On the other end of the floor, LaRavia won’t help much, and that is potentially a problem for the Lakers. This LaRavia-Lakers signing was all about the shooting, and hopefully, his offensive production makes up for what he may lack on defense.

This Lakers free agency signing isn’t going to completely change their team. That being said, it gives Luka and LeBron a decent offensive weapon to play with.

Whether LaRavia can actually play lots of impact minutes for the Lakers will be what makes or breaks this LaRavia-Lakers signing.
