With the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Truck Series both underway, next up is the beginning of the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series.
It’s the 114th official championship season of American open wheel racing, and the 30th season under IndyCar Series sanction. Its showcase each year, of course, is the Indianapolis 500.
Chip Ganassi Racing driver Álex Palou enters the 2025 season as the back-to-back defending champion, hoping his bid for a three-peat turns out better than the Kansas City Chiefs’ in Super Bowl 59.
The Indy 500 also has a defending back-to-back champion in Team Penske driver Josef Newgarden. Three drivers have won three straight IndyCar season titles. Nobody has ever won three straight Indy 500s.
