Two of the top Iowa high school wrestlers in the Class of 2027, Hayden Schwab and Dawson Youngblut of Don Bosco High School, have revealed their lists for college choices.

Both are heading into their junior seasons with state championships on their resumes among other accolades. Don Bosco is one of the top high school programs in the state, dominating the Class 1A level.

Schwab, the son of current University of Northern Iowa head coach Doug Schwab, is likely to sign with his father and compete for the Panthers. They are listed among his final seven along with Iowa, Nebraska, Cornell, Virginia Tech, Okahoma State and Stanford.

“Thank you to all the coaches that have reached out,” Schwab posted on social media. “I’m looking forward to continuing the process. These are the (seven) schools I can see myself continuing my academic and athletic career.”

A runner-up as a freshman at state, Schwab dominated last winter, winning gold at 120 pounds. He is ranked fifth at 113 pounds by FloWrestling and is considered the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2027 class.

Youngblut, who is halfway to becoming a four-time state champion, won gold at 132 pounds a year ago. He is currently ranked 31st overall by FloWrestling.

For Youngblut, he has Iowa, UNI, Nebraska and Cornell like Schwab along with Iowa State and NC State.
