The Kansas City Chiefs could be in the market for another receiver after their group struggled last season. A Pro Bowler is still available for them to sign for Patrick Mahomes.
Cooper is going into his 11th NFL season and is just 30 years old. He may not be the player he once was, but he can still be a good complementary piece on a championship team. Bleacher Report’s Kurt Benkert tabbed the Chiefs as the best landing spot for Cooper during a recent livestream.
“The Chiefs have a lot of receiver depth, but the Chiefs don’t really have a vet receiver right now. They have JuJu Smith-Schuster, but he doesn’t really play the same position Amari Cooper does. JuJu is more of a slot guy, where Amari is more of an X. You have Rashee Rice coming back from his knee injury. Looks like he’s doing pretty well, but do you want to put the mileage on his early or pick up a guy like Amari Cooper that can fill in, get the first downs, make some catches here and there and understand the offense?”
Cooper is a five-time Pro Bowler and has over 10,000 yards in his career. He is just one season removed from his last Pro Bowl selection and playing with Mahomes could get him back on track.
With Rice returning and Xavier Worthy breaking out at the end of the year, Cooper would only need to be a complementary receiver. Andy Reid has made a name for reviving careers, and Cooper could be the next receiver in line for a revival.

Last year, he had just 547 yards and was traded to the Buffalo Bills from the Cleveland Browns. He can still be a contributing player and would not be too expensive. Cooper is projected to earn a two-year, $37 million deal.
