The Boston Celtics aren’t done making moves. Although they are now under the second apron, one of their offseason goals, they may still be making trades. Shams Charania just broke some interesting Celtics news regarding their recent Anfernee Simons trade.
It seems like the Celtics rumors aren’t going to stop until the season begins. Shams just reported that despite securing a promising young guard in Anfernee Simons just a day ago, the team could already be open to trading him.
Simons could be a great fit on the Celtics, so it will be interesting to see what kind of trade package they are looking for in return for him.
An Anfernee Simons trade could net the Celtics additional draft capital. Though it doesn’t make total sense why they would be looking to pick up more unproven young players.
Simons is already a 20-point-per-game scorer and is only 26 years old. He has yet to play on a winning team and could blossom in Boston.
The Celtics are already going to take next season off while Jayson Tatum recovers from injury. Why wouldn’t they see what they have with Simons before shipping him off to a new destination?
Once Tatum is back, the Celtics want to compete for another championship. They need proven players, young and old, not more draft picks.
