  • Bucks’ 55-point legend hints at comeback from NBA retirement to replace Damian Lillard

The Milwaukee Bucks could use a replacement for Damian Lillard.

Sure, he wasn’t going to play much if at all in 2025-26 after his torn Achilles. But he was still a veteran point guard presence with a chance to make it back the following season and make a difference.

Now, Lillard is gone after being stretched-and-waived on Tuesday to make room for the Myles Turner signing.

One former Bucks star has already thrown his hat into the ring as a possible replacement: Brandon Jennings.

Jennings apparently would be open to a variety of options.

A continued playing career would be the most potentially entertaining. He last suited up in the NBA in 2016-17 in a short-lived, 14-game return to the Bucks.

Milwaukee originally drafted Jennings 10th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Somehow, he’s still just 35 years old.

Jennings’ crowning moment came less than a month into his rookie season, when he dropped 55 points against the Golden State Warriors. He’d never reach that total again.

For his NBA career, Jennings averaged 14.1 points and 5.7 assists per game while shooting 34.5% from 3-point range.

A thin 6-foot-1 lefty point guard, Jennings may not be equipped to making a playing career comeback after nearly a decade away from the league.

But it’s a fun thing to imagine. It’d certainly be an odd type of history from Jennings if he came back after so long away.

Maybe Jennings has the right idea in listing those other jobs, though. They might be more his speed at this point.
