Formula 1’s summer sprint through Europe rolls on this weekend as the British Grand Prix gears up at the legendary Silverstone Circuit, marking Round 12 of a jam-packed 24-race calendar in 2025.
All eyes will be on McLaren after the orange-clad outfit dominated the show in Austria, locking out the top two steps of the podium. Lando Norris took the spoils ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, slicing the Australian’s lead in the standings down to 15 points.
The dynamic duo kept things tidy following their messy run-in in Canada—but with Silverstone bringing the heat and the pressure of a home crowd, sparks could fly again.
For Norris, the stage couldn’t be more perfectly set. With confidence soaring after his Spielberg triumph, he’ll be aiming to ride that wave straight to back-to-back victories on home soil. But Piastri, already with five wins under his belt this season, won’t be giving an inch as he eyes a sixth.
Max Verstappen, meanwhile, finds himself licking his wounds after a first-lap tango with Kimi Antonelli knocked him out of the Austrian GP. That early exit saw the Dutchman lose serious ground to the McLaren boys—and now, with George Russell breathing down his neck just nine points adrift, the title race has suddenly opened wide.
Russell, too, has home glory on his mind. Although he couldn’t replicate his Canadian win last time out, the Silver Arrows star will be eager to put on a show for the local fans in what’s shaping up to be a thriller on British tarmac.
And don’t forget Lewis Hamilton. The veteran icon returns to Silverstone, the site of his unforgettable ninth win at the circuit last year. With the crowd behind him and history on his side, the seven-time champ could still have one more magic moment up his sleeve.
