Arsenal have entered formal negotiations with RB Leipzig over the signing of Benjamin Sesko, following reports that a personal agreement has already been reached with the Slovenian striker.
The Gunners, long-term admirers of Sesko, are pushing ahead with a deal believed to be worth between €80–100 million ($86–108 million).
Sporting News understands discussions between the clubs are now underway as Mikel Arteta seeks to strengthen his forward options ahead of a pivotal 2025/26 season.
Sesko enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Bundesliga, catching the eye with his physical presence, clinical finishing and maturity beyond his years. Arteta views the 22-year-old as a long-term solution to their search for a consistent, top-level No. 9.
Leipzig are braced for a summer of significant departures. Alongside Sesko, his attacking partner Lois Openda has also been made available for transfer, while the future of Dutch international Xavi Simons remains uncertain.
The 22-year-old, currently valued at €70 million ($75 million), has made clear his intention to leave the club. Arsenal, along with Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester United, and Barcelona, have all registered interest.

Leipzig are understood to be holding out for a significant offer that reflects Sesko’s market value, with reports suggesting they will demand between £68.5 million ($87 million) and £85.5 million ($109 million).
While Arsenal have yet to table a formal bid, they’ve reportedly indicated a readiness to meet that valuation. A concrete offer is expected in the coming days, with growing confidence on all sides that a deal could be finalised before Arsenal’s pre-season gets underway.
Meanwhile, the Gunners remain attentive to developments surrounding Real Madrid forward Rodrygo. Initial discussions with the Brazilian’s representatives took place several weeks ago.
Sources say Arsenal remain optimistic about the possibility of doing a deal, although his immediate priority is performing at the FIFA Club World Cup under Xabi Alonso. Madrid are adamant they would not consider any offers below €90 million ($97 million).
Will Thomas Partey leave Arsenal this summer?
Back in north London, the future of midfielder Thomas Partey is unresolved.
Reports from Turkey have suggested that the Ghanaian is set to leave Arsenal, having been offered to multiple Super Lig sides.
However, those close to the player insist that no final decision has been made. Partey’s representatives have held talks with clubs across Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
A one-year contract offer is currently on the table, but Partey is understood to be content in London and is currently enjoying his summer break.
With Arsenal aiming to compete on multiple fronts next season, sporting director Edu and manager Mikel Arteta are expected to be busy in the transfer market. Reinforcements in attack and midfield remain the priority, and with the window now open, the Gunners are wasting no time in moving for their top targets.
