The Women’s Rugby World Cup launches this evening, with the inaugural match between the English Red Roses and the American Eagles.

England, who are also hosting the competition for the second time, are fan favourites to win both this match and the eventual tournament, as they currently enjoy top position in the world.

The USA, currently ranked 10th in the world, will have to put on an incredibly strong performance to fight the Red Roses, although they will be hoping to use the knowledge that comes from nearly two thirds of their squad playing for English teams in the PWR.

In their previous encounters, England have consistently come out on top, winning their last 20 matches against the USA, most recently 61 – 21 in 2024.

This match signifies the beginning of the group stage of the World Cup, with England and the USA both set to face fellow Pool A nations Samoa and Australia in the coming weeks.
