The Colorado Buffaloes are getting ready to open the 2025 football season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. But they’ll likely be without one of their top running backs.
Dallan Hayden suffered a hand injury in practice and is expected to be out for the Buffs’ opener in two weeks, according to DNVR’s Scott Procter.

Nothing official has been announced by Deion Sanders or his staff. Nonetheless, it’s a huge blow for the former Ohio State transfer who was sidelined due to injury for two games last year. He was Colorado’s second-leading rusher last year with 196 yards and a touchdown.
Hayden was likely to start the season off strong under the guidance of Hall-of-Famer Marshall Faulk, who took over as CU’s running backs coach during the offseason. Now, he’ll spend time preparing to be back out on the field after a few weeks.
With Hayden out, the Buffs running back room gets thinned out once again. Charlie Offerdahl announced his retirement from football recently, leaving Micah Welch ahead of transfers DeKalon Taylor and Simeon Price.
Colorado faces Georgia Tech under the Friday Night Lights on August 29 (8 p.m. ET on ESPN).
