The St. Louis Cardinals have run into another rough patch, currently running into a four-game losing streak as they conclude the MLB Players’ Weekend.

After being labeled as sellers for the MLB trade deadline, the Cardinals have turned towards giving opportunities for younger prospects. St. Louis has dropped to 4.5 games behind the New York Mets for the final spot in the NL Wild Card.

The season isn’t over for the Cardinals, as there’s still over a month left in the season, and they will look to Miles Mikolas to go against Will Warren on Sunday in an attempt to snap their losing streak.

St. Louis will also be accompanied by their No. 14 prospect, Nathan Church, as the outfielder is set to make his MLB debut on Sunday, batting ninth.

MLB.com‘s John Denton announced the news on Sunday, saying, “When (Victor) Scott was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday, the Cardinals promoted Triple-A outfielder Nathan Church (the club’s No. 14 prospect) for his MLB debut.”

Church, 25, is a speedy left-handed bat who can play all over the outfield while having base-stealing ability. An 11th-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, Church has played his way from Single-A to the major leagues this season.

While playing in 86 games in the minors this season, Church has been nothing but consistent. His .329 batting average, .386 on-base percentage, .524 slugging percentage, and .910 OPS while hitting 13 home runs, 50 RBI, and stealing 16 bases made the Cardinals pick up his contract before their game against the Yankees on Sunday.
