The 2025/26 Premier League season begins on August 15 and runs through to May 24 next year.

Liverpool will be hoping to defend the title they won with surprising ease last term, particularly after investing around £300 million in the transfer market, but they will expect stern opposition from Arsenal, Manchester City, and possibly Chelsea.

Aside from the glory of winning the title, qualifying for Europe or simply surviving the relegation battle, there are Premier League records that could be up for grabs this term for certain sides and star names.

The Sporting News looks at the Premier League record books at the start of the season to see where there could be new ground broken.

Unsurprisingly, Pep Guardiola’s Man City find themselves at the top of this list after scoring an incredible 106 goals on route to winning the 2017/18 Premier League title, and Guardiola’s first in English football.

City under Guardiola dominate the top-five list in this category, although the top-scoring side has not always won the title.

Haaland made an outrageous start to life in English football by breaking Shearer’s joint one-season record, but he has long way to go to overhaul the former England international as the Premier League’s top gun.

Shearer netted 260 Premier League goals prior to his retirement in 2006, and he will remain unchallenged in the coming years, after second-place Harry Kane opted to join Bayern Munich.

Derby County’s 11 points from 2007/08 remains the lowest ebb, although Southampton ran them close in 2024/25.
