For Nolen Anderson, all that new Minnesota head men’s basketball coach Niko Medved had to say was perfect.
Anderson, who heads into his senior season at Wayzata High School in Minnesota this fall, committed to Medved and his Golden Gopher program recently.

The 6-foot-7 Anderson is a wing who told 247Sports that Minnesota was his decision “because of the culture.”
“To start off, the coaching staff has been amazing to me and really showed their interest in me by showing up at all of my live period games in July,” Anderson said. “I really fit there style of basketball and the way Coach Medved runs his offense, I think I could thrive in.”

Anderson is considered the No. 3 prospect in the state of Minnesota and the 56th overall small forward. He played for Eden Prairie last year and spent the summer with D1 Minnesota on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.
Along with Minnesota, Medved’s former team, Drake, Virginia Tech and Northern Iowa were chasing Anderson.
Anderson is coming off a junior campaign that saw him average 17.5 points per game playing alongside Christian Wiggins. In a win over Cretin-Derham Hall in the Class 4A state championship, he had 24 points with 10 rebounds, sinking four three-pointers.
Wiggins has committed to Iowa State and played with Anderson on D1 Minnesota along with Iowa prep standout and Creighton commit Jaidyn Coon among others.
