Lynx forward Napheesa Collier has been arguably the best player in the WNBA this year, as she is potentially on her way to her first MVP award while leading the Lynx to the best record in the league.

However, on Saturday afternoon, Collier suffered an apparent ankle injury in Minnesota’s 111-58 win over the Aces. The forward went down late in the contest and needed assistance getting off the court.

With just over a month left in the season, WNBA teams are looking to secure playoff positioning. Minnesota, though, is six games clear of the best record in the league, which could give them time to allow Collier to rest without worrying about the standings.

Here’s what happened to Collier on Saturday.

Napheesa Collier injury update

Lynx star forward Napheesa Collier left Saturday’s game against the Aces after she went down with an apparent ankle injury. Collier initially tried to get up with assistance, but she struggled to put weight on her foot and went back down to the court as the medical team attended to her.

Collier was eventually able to leave the court and head back to the locker room, but she needed help to get there. The Lynx immediately ruled her out for the game with a right ankle injury.

Minnesota head coach Cheryl Reeve did not have an update on Collier after the game. She did, however, speak on why Collier was in the game with the Lynx up by so much.

“It’s the third quarter of a game on someone else’s floor, I don’t think the game is over,” she said. “I get it, people are gonna rail on me, and that’s part of sitting in the seat that I’m sitting in, but we did what we think was right.”
