An ailing Chicago Bulls guard has made a surprise timeline announcement about his recovery from a lingering injury.
Defense-oriented (probable) Bulls reserve Ayo Dosunmu anticipates that he will be back in the fold for Chicago in time for the start of 2025-26 training camp, writes Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune.
The 6-foot-5 University of Illinois product, a Chicago native, has been shelved since having a March left shoulder surgery. At the time, he was expected to need four to six months to recuperate. Training camp tips off at the start of month seven.

“I feel great,” Dosunmu said. “I feel right on schedule if not ahead. I’m just excited for these next couple of months to really get in even better shape and be able to go out there.”
Poe reports that the 25-year-old has already been given the green light to take contact in workouts. During a planned informal Chicago player minicamp in Miami, Dosunmu is anticipated to suit up against guard Coby White and second-year forward Matas Buzelis, an All-Rookie honoree last year.
Across just 46 healthy games for the Bulls (26 starts), Dosunmu averaged 12.3 points while slashing .492/.328/.785, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per bout.
“Anytime something is taken away from you, it makes you appreciate it more,” Dosunmu added.
Dosunmu, who’s eligible for a veteran contract extension this year, will be in the third season of a three-year, $21 million deal, and will reach unrestricted free agency in 2026 if he and the Bulls don’t agree to an extension.
