Can the Michigan Wolverines bounce back after an underwhelming 8-5 2024 campaign?
True freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood should hold the keys to an offense that sorely missed J.J. McCarthy last season, and he will be tested early.
J.D. PicKell of On3 recently released his “Best games for every week of the CFB season” list. Michigan was listed twice: week 2 at Oklahoma and week 14 vs. Ohio State.
Let’s start with the trip to Norman. This is a high-stakes, high-pressure, raucous environment that will throw Underwood into the fire right away. If he and Michigan can come out of (newly minted) SEC territory unscathed, it should have a lot more than a ReliaQuest Bowl on its mind.
The Wolverines do have a tune-up the week before in the Big House versus New Mexico, but the battle with the Sooners is the first real game of the year.
In late November, Michigan will duke it out with its most bitter rival, the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Wolverines have won four consecutive in “The Game”, and this one could potentially have monumental Big Ten and College Football Playoff implications.
Michigan will need a stellar outing from everyone to take down the defending champions, and if it can accomplish that on home turf, it may need to plant another flag.
As important as the Oklahoma game will be, nothing tops Wolverines versus Buckeyes during Rivalry Week, and it feels like the more time passes, the more they hate one another.
Expect nothing different this fall.
