The Los Angeles Clippers’ first-round pick in 2019, Mfiondu Kabengele, had so much promise coming out of Florida State.
The Canadian big guy could never quite break through, though. He lasted in the NBA from 2019 through 2023, appearing for the Clippers, Cavs and Celtics.
Now, he’s an overseas star.
Kabengele played for AEK Athens and Reyer Venezia the past two seasons. With the Italian team in 2024-25, he averaged 15.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Now, Kabengele is heading further east.
He has signed to play with Dubai Basketball.

Kabengele has likely moved past the chance to ever return to the NBA, although he’s still just 27.
Maybe another strong season could bring him back to a Summer League or training camp opportunity next year.
