Gianluigi Donnarumma’s future at PSG has reached a tricky point as talks over a new contract have stalled.

The French side have been clear that they want the Italian to sign new terms this summer, hoping to avoid any uncertainty as the season progresses but so far the discussions have gone nowhere.

Donnarumma, who played a key role in PSG’s Champions League win last season with match winning displays against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal is highly valued figure in the dressing room and among the fans.

However, the offer currently on the table is believed to be a combination of a fixed base with a performance-related variable portion, something that has not sat well with those close to the 26-year-old goalkeeper.

Although he still has one year left on his existing contract but the situation is becoming increasingly fragile and PSG know they may need to make a decision soon if things don’t move forward.

The club cannot afford to risk losing such a high-value player for free next summer and that reality may push them towards exploring a sale before the window closes.

As a precaution, the French champions have reportedly sounded out Lille’s Lucas Chevalier as a potential successor, in case talks with Donnarumma completely break down and they are forced to move on sooner than planned

Manchester City and Bayern Munich show interest in Donnarumma

Nicolo Schira reports that both Bayern Munich and Manchester City are interested in Donnarumma.

Bayern are seeking a long-term heir to Manuel Neuer, while City are preparing for life after Ederson who could leave before the window closes.

City have identified Donnarumma as one of the top candidates to replace Ederson but they are also considering Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen as part of their planning.

If PSG and Donnarumma remain at odds, the French champions may soon have no choice but to negotiate his exit.
