Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever beat the Connecticut Sun 85-77 last night. But what makes this game extra special? It took place in Boston at the TD Garden, home of the Celtics.

The Sun chose to have this game at the Celtics’ arena instead of their own in order to allow more fans to attend the game and see the budding superstar in Clark. 19,156 fans saw the Fever get the W (the Sun’s normal arena only holds 10,000 fans).

Before this momentous occasion, Clark touched on a bevy of topics with the media, including what her experience has been with the Celtics as a basketball player and fan.

“Yeah, I mean, this is really, honestly, my first time to Boston,” Clark said. “Obviously, if you’re a basketball fan, you grow up a fan, you love the Celtics. Well, maybe I guess you could hate them.”

Clark continued: “But I think for myself, the Celtics is one of the premier organizations of the NBA. Like, you always grow up knowing what the Celtics are about and obviously having won a championship two years ago now, it’s kind of cool to just be in this building and kind of surround yourself with the greatness that is played in this arena over the course of however many years.”

The Celtics have clearly made an impact on Clark’s basketball upbringing, and she will hope for that aforementioned greatness – including 18 NBA championships – to rub off on her and the rest of her team as they pursue their first WNBA championship since 2012.
