Liverpool are currently in the middle of a spending spree and are about to add Florian Wirtz to their squad for an eye-watering amount of money.

Though the deal is not in the bag just yet, it is only a matter of time before the Reds announce the signing of the German international from Bayer Leverkusen.

Additionally, the Reds have already turned their attention to their next signing once Wirtz is announced.

According to O Jogo, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all interested in a move for Sporting defender Goncalo Inacio.

The 23-year-old defender has emerged as one of the most highly-rated defensive prospects in Europe following a series of impressive seasons in Portugal.

Recently, the defender was part of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League winning team, getting more attention for his impressive performances for his national team.

Inacio is comfortable both in central defence and as a left-back. His game intelligence, composure on the ball, and long-range passing has impressed a number of top clubs.

Liverpool are on the lookout for a new defender this summer

Liverpool are said to be on the lookout for a new central defender this summer, owing to the uncertain futures of some of their players.

Ibrahima Konate has entered the final year of his contract at the club and he is set to become a free agent in 2026.

There is nothing agreed over a new deal between the French defender and the Premier League champions.

Another Liverpool centre-back who could head out of the club is Jarrel Quansah. The young defender has admirers in Bayer Leverkusen and his departure could leave Liverpool short in the centre-back position.

Joe Gomez’s future at Anfield also remains unresolved with the defender looking to move away from the club in order get more first team action.

That leaves Liverpool searching the market for a new central defender who can become a part of their squad under Arne Slot next season.

However, Manchester United and Newcastle United also lurking, Liverpool may need to act decisively if they truly want to secure his signature.
