Colorado Buffaloes football legend Shedeur Sanders, fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett have inspired minimal confidence in the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback room this offseason.
So little so, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton sees running backs Jerome Ford and Quinshon Judkins needing to carry the load themselves during the 2025 NFL season.
“[Running backs] Jerome Ford and Quinshon Judkins must find open running lanes because Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel may feel immense pocket pressure off the edges,” Moton wrote.
“The Browns will remain in the AFC North cellar with an eye on quarterbacks next year.”
Ford has proven to be a perfect platoon running back coming off the Cincinnati Bearcats’ magical run to the 2021/2022 College Football Playoff as a Group of Five program in a four-team field.
Judkins was part of a CFP Championship-winning effort with the Ohio State Buckeyes himself this past year.
Asking either of them to ride Army-Navy style rushing efforts to success in the AFC North is a waste of everyone’s time. Well, besides the fantasy owners that scoop them up knowing the number of carries each might be in store for.
If Cleveland doesn’t have a quarterback who can throw at least 25 passes per game, they might not have the same RB room next year if they run their two backs into the ground.
The Browns’ backfield has far more questions than answers. The educated guesses used as placeholders paint a bleak picture in Berea, though.
