The New York Giants have an injury concern with quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the second half of the Week 9 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

McCarthy got banged up in the second quarter and, as of this writing, has been replaced by Jameis Winston.

Prior to his exit, McCarthy completed 9-of-13 passes for 101 yards and carried the ball three times for 11 yards.

Follow our tracker below for the latest updates on McCarthy’s status for the rest of the game against the Eagles.

J.J. McCarthy injury update

UPDATE: Well, it wasn’t a shoulder or a rib, but rather a hip injury for McCarthy, and he’s now questionable to return, the Giants announced.

UPDATE: McCarthy has now gone back to the locker. Still no update from the Giants.

UPDATE: Here’s video of McCarthy throwing on the sideline. It certainly looks like a ribs issue instead of the shoulder injury Duggan said before.

And it looks very, very painful.

We’re still waiting for official word from the team.

END OF UPDATES

According to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan, McCarthy appears to have a shoulder injury. He is now getting checked out in the tent.

“Looks like McCarthy’s shoulder may be the issue. He tried throwing on the sideline, but was clearly in pain and frustrated,” Duggan wrote.

“He’s in the blue tent now.”

Here’s a look at a replay of the hit McCarthy took. It looks like McCarthy could have an injury to his ribs, not his shoulder.

We’ll update this page once we have more information.
