South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers left Saturday’s game against Texas A&M with an apparent left ankle injury. He took a hard hit by two Aggies defenders before fumbling. As he went to the ground, his left ankle appeared to become trapped and got twisted.
Sellers was helped off the field and struggled to put weight on the ankle. He entered the medical tent before heading toward the locker room without his cleat.
At halftime, South Carolina coach Shane Beamer provided an update on the quarterback’s condition to the ESPN broadcast crew.
“We’re concerned. He’s got an ankle right now,” Beamer said. “They’re taking an X-ray on it. I don’t know the results of that right now.”
Sellers returned with a vengeance. He led the Gamecocks to a 17-9 win over Texas A&M. South Carolina entered the matchup 5-3 and ranked No. 21 in the first College Football Playoff rankings with victories over ranked Florida and Tennessee teams.
Sellers threw for 251 yards and a touchdown and ran for the clinching score. This was the fourth straight win for South Carolina, who started the season 2-3 with calls to fire Beamer.
No. 21 South Carolina faces Arkansas next Saturday at 7:45 on the SEC Network.
