When it comes to stars on the Detroit Lions‘ squad, there are lots of them, but wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is surely one of the biggest. He’s completely explosive on the field and a joy to watch, for those rooting for the Lions, at least. Other teams don’t want to come up against Brown, and for good reason, because he’s a tough opponent.
The Lions take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, and even though they’re favored to win, you can’t really assume it’s going to go a certain way. Anything can happen in the NFL. St. Brown needs to be on point, even against a team that’s 1-6 like the Dolphins.
Now, ahead of the game, however, St. Brown has been handed some punishment from the NFL.
Every week, the NFL announces punishments in the form of fines to players who break the rules in games that took place the weekend before. “The rules are intended to protect the players from unnecessary risk, promote player safety and emphasize sportsmanship and respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and fans,” the league states.

On Saturday, the league released its latest tally of fines and punishments for Week 8. In it, they slapped St. Brown with an $11,941 fine for taunting in the first quarter at the 11:25 mark. The incident happened when St. Brown stood over Vikings safety Josh Metellus and nodded his head following a block in the first quarter.
So, St. Brown is in a bit of trouble with the NFL, but these fines are fairly common in the league. If he pays up, it’ll go to a good cause, too. According to the NFL, the funds raised from these fines are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation and NFL Foundation.
