Luka Doncic has been producing extraordinary numbers for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Friday’s game against Portland offers another opportunity to extend one of the NBA’s most impressive early-season streaks.
Doncic has scored at least 40 points in three consecutive games, averaging 42.3 during that stretch. The Lakers have won all three contests, demonstrating how effectively their superstar’s offensive production has translated into team success.
But the scoring totals tell only part of the story.
Doncic is producing more than points
Doncic has recorded six straight games with at least 35 points, five rebounds, five assists and five made three-pointers. That combination highlights the versatility that makes him one of the league’s most difficult players to defend.
Opponents must account for his scoring from beyond the arc while also protecting against his ability to create opportunities for teammates. Doncic enters Friday averaging an NBA-leading 38.5 points per game.
His recent performances have helped Los Angeles overcome difficult opponents and establish momentum after an uneven start. The Lakers will attempt to extend their winning streak to four games when they host Portland.

Trail Blazers have their own momentum
Portland enters the game with three consecutive wins, including a 132-119 decision over Phoenix. Damian Lillard scored 25 points against the Suns and has provided important offensive production since returning from an Achilles injury that cost him the previous season.
The Trail Blazers have also received contributions from Donovan Clingan and Deni Avdija. Portland has been navigating injury challenges, including the absence of Ja Morant and a fractured ankle suffered by Vit Krejci.
Despite those setbacks, the Trail Blazers have continued finding ways to win. They also defeated Los Angeles 136-129 on Oct. 27, giving the Lakers additional motivation entering Friday.

Lakers need their superstar to stay hot
Doncic’s recent scoring streak has been remarkable, but Los Angeles will need more than one player to defeat a Portland team that has already beaten it this season. The Lakers must also improve defensively after allowing 136 points in their previous meeting.
That challenge becomes particularly important against a Trail Blazers team capable of generating offense from several positions.
Doncic’s ability to create difficult shots gives Los Angeles an advantage in close games. However, maintaining the winning streak will require dependable production throughout the lineup.
Friday provides another opportunity for Doncic to extend his extraordinary individual run while helping the Lakers continue climbing the Western Conference standings.
