Last time Miami played Notre Dame
It hasn’t been too long since Miami last faced Notre Dame. The two memorably met in South Florida at the start of the 2025 season, with Carson Beck and the Hurricanes spoiling CJ Carr’s first start for the Irish.
Malachi Toney, playing in his first game, announced his presence with 82 yards and a touchdown on six catches, while a Carter Davis field goal with just over a minute remaining helped Miami stave off a Notre Dame comeback effort.
That game proved to be massively consequential. The head-to-head win was the difference between Miami reaching the College Football Playoff and Notre Dame falling short, and the Hurricanes would take that opportunity to go all the way to the national championship game.
2025 marked the first Catholics vs. Convicts game since 2017, which was also won by Miami. Historically, however, Notre Dame has gotten the better of the ‘Canes in this rivalry. Here’s a full breakdown.

Notre Dame dominated Miami in the 1970s, winning each matchup, but the Hurricanes fought back in the 1980s with six wins in nine meetings.
Since meeting in 1990, matchups between Notre Dame and Miami have been more sparse. The 2010 Sun Bowl broke a 20-year drought without a game between the two, and each program has two wins and two losses in four regular season meetings ever since.
