Karl-Anthony Towns has arguably been the New York Knicks‘ best player this season. Despite the Knicks‘ win over the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, Towns did not have the best shooting night.
Towns shot 4-for-11 from the field, but he made sure to make an impact everywhere else. He only scored 11 points, but he grabbed 16 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. It was a testament to how impactful Towns can be when he is locked in.
Karl-Anthony Towns on how he impacts the game beyond scoring
During his heyday with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Towns was seen as one of the best offensive big men. He was already a tremendous player back then because of his limitless offensive arsenal. However, he has added to his game after joining the Knicks.
With New York, Towns has become more of a multi-dimensional player. He still scores and rebounds at a high level, but he has become a solid defender while also becoming a playmaking hub for Mike Brown’s system.

Most people see Jalen Brunson as the star player for the Knicks, and rightfully so. However, Towns has also earned the distinction of being a star because of how impactful he can be with or without the scoring numbers.
“You gotta impact winning every single day. I may not shoot the ball well every day, but I can damn sure impact winning every time I step on the court with this Knicks jersey on. It says a lot about this team to come off a championship & still find different ways to get better, to grow, to fight through adversity,” Towns said after the Knicks’ win over the Nets.
The Knicks still have a losing record at 3-4, but they are on the right track. As defending champions, the Knicks have huge targets on their backs, and the players know it. Towns and the rest of the Knicks roster are ready to step up and help New York get back-to-back championships.
