The New York Jets are 2-6 heading into their next game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Nov. 8. Now, there are rumblings that head coach Aaron Glenn may be in the hot seat.
With the team struggling, it makes sense that there would be rumors about Glenn’s place with the franchise. This marks his second year with the team, but even though he’s only been there a short while, attention spans and patience are short in the NFL.
Now, Jets players are opening up about their feelings about Glenn amid the talk that his days there may be numbered if he doesn’t turn things around.
New York Jets players Josh Myers and Jowon Briggs show support for Aaron Glenn
Jets center Josh Myers is supporting Glenn. Speaking with reporters in a piece published on Monday on the Jets’ official website, Myers called Glenn a solid coach.
“Well, for starters, I mean, I obviously understand the frustration,” Myers said regarding how some Jets fans feel about Glenn right now, according to Jets reporter Jack Bell. “I just know, like in my heart, that he’s a great coach. And there’s just more to it than just one person.”
He added, “I mean, this is truly a team effort, and I don’t think there’s anyone in our locker room that doesn’t believe in AG and his leadership and leading this team and organization. So that hasn’t wavered, and it won’t because he’s a really good coach.”
He wasn’t the only one. Jets defensive tackle Jowon Briggs also said good things about Glenn.
“Coach has proceeded to explain and express and be emphatic about the same exact message he came in with, and I have undying and unyielding resolve and unyielding trust in what coach got going on, just as any other guy in this locker room,” he said, per the website. “I’m proud to play on a team that’s led by him, and we want to continue to work to make this something that everybody’s proud of.”
So, even if Glenn isn’t getting a ton of love right now from the Jets’ fanbase, his players are standing up for him.
