The Dallas Cowboys are expected to be a buyer at this year’s trade deadline. It’s a wide-open NFC East with the Philadelphia Eagles‘ collapse, so it wouldn’t be a surprise for Jerry Jones to try swinging big at this year’s deadline.

Even though they’ve already dealt for Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cowboys could still look to swing big this Fall. One player has emerged as a possible trade target for Dallas this November, and it’s a familiar face.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cowboys are a “team to watch” in the trade sweepstakes for Arizona Cardinals $76 million edge rusher Josh Sweat, who helped the Eagles win a Super Bowl two years ago.

Cowboys ‘team to watch’ for Josh Sweat trade

“There is interest in Cardinals OLB Josh Sweat, per sources. A team to watch with Sweat is the Cowboys, who will get an up-close look at him today, when Dallas hosts Arizona,” Schefter reports.

This is an interesting report for the Cowboys, as they’ve already built a solid group of edge rushers, including Rashan Gary, Von Miller, James Houston, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and Malachi Lawrence.

But adding another high-end pass rusher to that group couldn’t hurt. That’s especially the case with how this Dallas defense has really struggled this year.

If the Cowboys can get a few players healthy and add someone like Sweat, it would be a huge upgrade for this defensive line.

The 29-year-old edge rusher who’s signed for the next couple of seasons isn’t going to be cheap, as the Cardinals will likely seek hefty compensation for Sweat, who’s still a good player despite a 2.0-sack start to the 2026 season in seven games.

Sweat is a former Pro Bowler who has multiple double-digit sack seasons, including a 12-sack year with the Cardinals in 2025. If he joins this Dallas defensive front, they could really improve their pass-rushing upside.

With their limited draft capital, a trade might be hard to pull off, but the Cowboys are still a team to watch in Sweat’s trade market this fall, according to Schefter.
