Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez attempts to reclaim a portion of the world super middleweight title when he returns to action on Halloween to challenge Christian Mbilli for the WBC’s 168-pound belt.

The fight is Canelo’s (63-3-2) second in Saudi Arabia, part of a deal with Riyadh Season. He last fought a year ago, where he lost his undisputed 12-stone title to fellow modern great Terence Crawford.

Despite the time off, Canelo didn’t want to take an easy fight back. The multi-division champion aims to have gold around his waist again by beating the dangerous Mbilli.

“I don’t believe in shortcuts. That’s why I go straight to the champion,” Canelo said via Boxing Scene. “I already have that experience. I’ve been a champion many years, and I hope to be a champion again. I want to face the best, and he’s a champion, that’s it.”

Mbilli (29-0-1) has 23 knockout wins and took out Maciej Sulecki to become the interim champion. Promoted after Crawford relinquished the belt, his last fight was a draw. Mbilli is ready to prove he’s worthy of being champion against Canelo.

“I’m ready to shock the world,” said Mbilli. “I have a big respect for Canelo and all his career. I want to congratulate him for this, but Saturday will be a different story. I’m coming for the win.”

Martin upsets Picasso via split decision!

It was a nip-and-tuck affair but Martin gets it on the cards, having regrouped superbly from that early knockdown. Judge Guido Cavalleri saw it 95-94 for Picasso but the other two found 96-93 and 95-94 in favour of James. The Wonder Boy moves on to 29-0 and picks up the WBC ‘Silver’ title, whatever that’s worth.
