There will be a Game 7 in the 2026 WNBA Finals.

The season will come down to 40 minutes (or more) in Chase Center on Saturday, after the Atlanta Dream held off a late rally to defeat the Golden State Valkyries in Thursday’s Game 6 matinee.

Despite the bickering and the controversy that surrounded the Game 6 start time, the Dream led wire-to-wire in front of a sold-out crowd at State Farm Arena as Angel Reese reasserted her Finals MVP candidacy with one game to go.

Reese scored 15 points, grabbed 14 rebounds and dished out six assists as Atlanta took control early and never looked back. Reese also hit two three-pointers, improving Atlanta’s record when she does so to 16-0.

“We ain’t have everybody come out at 12:30 for no reason,” Reese said in an on-court interview after the final buzzer sounded. “We appreciate the fan support, on a weekday, they came out and supported us, every single day, every single game.”

Reese’s 14 rebounds took her past Sylvia Fowles of the 2017 Minnesota Lynx and gave her 78 boards for the series. That is a WNBA Finals record, and she’ll have one more chance to augment it.

The Dream led by as many as 25 points, though Gabby Williams and the Valkyries cut the deficit to eight points late in the fourth quarter.

But on the ensuing possession, Allisha Gray drilled a corner three-pointer to restore the lead to double digits. Gray had a team-high 23 points in what was easily her best performance of the series.

And for the first time in league history, a WNBA playoff series will go to a seventh and deciding game.
