When the champagne had reached the Milwaukee Brewers’ locker room for the first time in franchise history and all hope looked lost for the Tampa Bay Rays, they struck two hits to get a run in and prevailed 4-3 in extra innings.

It has to be a great feeling, not only to win a game of the World Series at long last, but to beat a Milwaukee team that hadn’t lost in over three weeks. Tampa’s bullpen pitched the game of their lives with no runs allowed through seven innings of work.

In the process, however, they were forced to use their expected Game 5 starter, Nick Martinez. It remains to be seen who manager Kevin Cash will turn to now in a must-win game.

In all honesty, Milwaukee probably didn’t lose too much sleep over losing Game 4 of the World Series. A sweep would have been a luxury, but they’ll be back for their one more win in the future, whether it’s tonight in Tampa or another day back in front of their home crowd.

Meanwhile, outfielder Jackson Chourio moved ahead of William Contreras in the World Series MVP race after his fourth-straight game with two or more hits.

Despite gaining a lead in the 12th inning of yesterday’s Game 4, the Brewers just weren’t able to finish the job after Jonny DeLuca and Ben Williamson both hit one-RBI singles in the bottom of extra innings to prevail. Tonight, Milwaukee will have more of an advantage in the starting pitching department with Misiorowski on the mound. The Brewers have won every 2026 postseason game that The Miz has started.

Tampa is running low on pitching arms, especially after they had to use their expected Game 5 starter Nick Martinez during Game 3. Jackson Chourio has more than one hit in every World Series game played thus far. Milwaukee fell short yesterday, but that shouldn’t happen two nights in a row.

Best MLB World Series Game 5 player props

Despite losing Game 4, Chourio’s line went from a pre-game +105 to -105 heading into Wednesday’s Game 5. Milwaukee’s outfielder was essentially in a two-horse race with catcher William Contreras for the award, but Chourio’s two hits compared to Contreras’ zero last night pushed him ahead in the rankings. Reliever Aaron Ashby has also soared up the rankings, and he hasn’t had an earned run tied to him since Sept. 17 against the Pirates.

During the World Series, Chourio has gone 10-for-20 (.500) with two RBIs and three runs, including a Game 3 where he went 4-for-5 and tallied Milwaukee’s first and last runs of the game. Milwaukee just needs one more win, and if Chourio has any role in his team’s first World Series ever, he’ll take home this award.

Misiorowski has been typed up on these MLB best bets throughout the postseason; Wednesday night’s matchup will be no different. He hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs during his team’s World Series run, or since Sept. 2 for that matter, but he’s consistently allowed four or more hits in every 2026 postseason start, which has caused him to hit the over on this 5.5 H+R+R line each time.

The main danger of this bet would be Pat Murphy taking The Miz out as soon as trouble presents itself, since he hasn’t been pitching through the sixth inning recently. However, he should pitch a fourth straight game that features an over on this line.
