Kyrie Irving has always been one of the steadiest players in the league ever since he got drafted in 2011. He will always be reliable in how he plays on offense, and he has a level head whenever he is on the floor.

That is apparent because for the first 781 games in his career, he never fouled out of a game. That changed in his 782nd career appearance, as the Dallas Mavericks guard fouled out in the matchup against Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers.

Kyrie Irving’s unique foul record has ended after Mavs vs Pacers

The Mavericks were tremendous all night against the Pacers, as Irving led them in scoring with 24 points in only 25 minutes. It was an impressive performance because he also dealt with foul trouble.

He held the longest active streak of games played without fouling out. Now, that streak has finally come to an end; it has been noted that only three players exceeded Irving’s record in NBA history.

Wilt Chamberlain 1205
Steve Kerr 1038
Antonio Daniels 952

It just goes to show that basketball IQ does go a long way. A lot of people don’t see it on defense, but Irving still uses his basketball IQ to the highest level on both ends of the floor. That was also the same for both Steve Kerr and Antonio Daniels, who were also cerebral players back in their day.

At the end of the day, it does not matter because the Mavericks won their first game of the season. In fact, Irving was in the locker room celebrating new head coach Dusty May’s first NBA win.

May had some fun with this tidbit because he made a joke about the foul record after the game.

“He let the staff know he had never fouled out in a game. Proud to be part of his first,” May said after Irving’s impressive performance that ended with him fouling for the first time.
