The Seattle Seahawks have a new-look quarterback room in 2025, as the team moved on from Geno Smith and replaced him with Sam Darnold, drafted Jalen Milroe in April, and also signed Drew Lock in free agency.
Though the Seahawks signed Darnold to a three-year deal to be the starter and selected Milroe in the third round of the 2025 NFL draft to be the quarterback of the future, Pro Football Network’s Max Dorsey predicts Seattle will use a third-round pick on a quarterback once again and select Pittsburgh’s Eli Holstein in 2026.
After redshirting at Alabama in 2023, Holstein transferred to Pittsburgh in 2024 to serve as the Panthers’ starting quarterback. He tossed 17 touchdowns to seven interceptions with a 61.9% completion rate and also added three touchdowns on the ground.
Though Holstein still has a lot of work to do to establish himself as a potential Day 2 pick in the 2026 draft, the 20-year-old has a ton of promise as a strong-armed pocket passer, and he also has adequate athleticism at 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds.
If Holstein can take his game to the next level in 2025, the Seahawks could target him in next year’s draft to be the eventual successor to Darnold.
However, it’s unlikely Seattle takes a quarterback in the 2026 draft if Milroe shows growth throughout this rookie season, and bailing on the former Alabama starter after just one season wouldn’t be a logical move.
